The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Mikao Usui developed Usui Reiki Ryoho, the most current form of Reiki, in 1922.
Reiki is a complementary health approach. An energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Invoking a natural healing within your body. Supporting the health and vitality of your energy field
Reiki practitioner uses their hands to deliver energy to your body, sensing any blocks shifting and improving the flow and balance of your energy to support your healing. Energy can stagnate, become stuck and create blocks which can cause negative feelings/life circumstances, worry, emotional pain, illness. Treatment can help relieve pain, speed healing and reduce symptoms by improving the flow of energy. When these shifts occur your mind, body and soul will feel more in balance. Depending on your physical state Reiki will start to help your body heal.
A standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for approx. three minutes
I started treatment like most thinking well how does this work? Seems a little woo woo some may say?? My yoga, meditation and breathing practices had helped my health massively but I was still feeling like I couldn’t quite clear “something” not sure what that something was, but I could just feel it. When I started my training, truthfully, I wasn’t getting it, (couldn’t see immediate results) the other people in my group were having these profound experiences and yet I was feeling deflated thinking maybe this wasn’t for me. The next session we had, I had explained to my tutor how I was feeling and then continued with the training. I finished feeling really relaxed as I always do but within fifteen mins I was rushing to the loo. The next couple of days I felt so unwell. A similar experience to when I have detoxed for three weeks. This I believe was the clearing of emotional stress I had been carrying for a decade. So this had my attention now! Some people can have quite a reaction and others may just feel relaxed and not really know what is happening. We are all different and our minds are complex. If you are resistant and sceptical your logical mind may hinder the free flow of energy. If you meditate you know you will feel relaxed after, but you won’t always realise or see immediate benefits until you create a regular routine with it. These subtle practices are not linear with quick results and truthfully breakthroughs can take time. This has become part of my health regime now. I go for treatments, and I also practice on myself.
I now treat people in the comfort of your own home where you can fully relax. If you are looking for a meditative type of treatment to aid stress, anxiety and emotional blockages, this is a perfect for you.
